Benefits of Access Control

Access control is where someone comes in and out of a place and their exit and entry are tracked. You can control access in and out of your building. They are used in places where there are a lot of visitors, such as hospitals, schools, government buildings, apartments, law firms, laboratories, brokerage firms and other high-traffic areas. If there is sensitive information in any part of your building, you can protect it by controlling who has access to these areas of your building. Without proper authorization, others will not be allowed into the area. Consider for instance a hospital. We all know that there are lots of drugs in a hospital. Someone who has a drug habit could easily sneak in and take the drugs they want. This would undoubtedly be the case if they didn’t have access to these areas controlled. In many cases, such as this, the person who is given authorization into these sensitive areas must undergo a criminal background check. You might also consider a law firm. If someone is defending another person who is on trial for killing someone and the person of the other person is upset with the one representing this person, they may decide to walk into the offices of the attorney to confront them. People’s emotions can run high and that is why it is necessary to protect these people. This is done via certain security measures, such as access-controlled entries.

We hope it is now obvious why so many businesses are having access control installed. It doesn’t just benefit the business but it benefits those who do business with them. Crime is on the rise and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down, especially hate crimes. Now even churches have access control. This is when you know things have gotten bad. Access control protects the leaders of these churches and their members.

Installing Access Control & Remaining Safe

We have already spoken about how important access control is to your safety and security but let us elaborate. We know for certain that due to the rise in terrorist attacks, we are receiving more business than ever. Many of the businesses are asking for more access control for their properties, especially government buildings. They may have already access control in the main entry area but perhaps now they want it on every floor or in other areas on the main floor where entry exists. Government buildings without access-controlled areas would be most susceptible to an incident. Someone is always going to be upset with the government. Disgruntled people are a danger to others. In fact, they are just as much a danger to others as they are to themselves. Think of the last time you went into any government building, even the DMV. You likely had to go through an access-controlled area. Some people find this annoying but then they realize just how much of a protection this is to them and they learn to accept it. It is very rare that someone is capable of getting through an access-controlled area, although it does happen occasionally.

In addition to government buildings, you’ll also notice that the airport has access control everywhere. The security has increased significantly at every airport in America due to 911. The airport is one of the places that sees more traffic than any place. It has become a target for many terrorists. We’re sure that if you just think about where you have gone today, you likely had to go through access control at some point. It is more commonly seen today.

Home Access Control

It is even possible to get access control for your home. We would install a keypad that enables you to give a code to whomever you want to have access into your home. If you live in a house with several different people, each person can be given a different code or the homeowner could create one code that everyone uses. This especially comes in handy if you have one person in your household that is always losing their house key. You no longer have to worry about losing a key because you won’t need one.

In addition to having a code to enter, some access control systems use a fob key. All the person needs to do is wave the fob card or stick in front of the keypad to gain access. Your card or stick must be identified before you can get in. These can be easily and quickly deactivated. If you live in an apartment building, it is likely that you’ve seen these before or even used them. We’re sure that you’ll be able to benefit from access control as so many people have and do every day.
